Rubrik Security Cloud suits enterprises that put ransomware recovery and immutable backups first and want a SaaS control plane over on-premises and cloud workloads. Database teams should confirm engine coverage, log backup and point-in-time recovery for each database in a proof of concept, because Rubrik's detailed documentation sits behind a customer login.
Overview
Rubrik Security Cloud (RSC) is the platform sold by Rubrik, Inc. Its annual report describes RSC as a cloud-native SaaS platform covering data protection (enterprise, unstructured, cloud and SaaS data), data threat analytics and data security, identity security for Active Directory, Entra ID and Okta, and cyber recovery with recovery simulation. On premises, data lands on Rubrik clusters built from Rubrik-branded appliances or commodity servers; RSC manages them and cloud workloads from one console.
For databases, the 10-K says enterprise protection covers databases on physical systems and VMs, and cloud protection covers databases in Azure, AWS, Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud. Rubrik's official PowerShell SDK exposes SQL Server instances, availability groups, log shipping and recoverable ranges (point-in-time windows), plus Oracle databases and managed volumes; the newer Rubrik Security Cloud SDK also has cmdlets for Db2, MongoDB and SAP HANA workloads. Rubrik's AWS Marketplace listing says it protects Amazon EC2, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB and S3. Rubrik positions the platform around zero trust principles: immutability, a logical air gap, encryption and role-based access.
Key features
- SaaS control plane (Rubrik Security Cloud) over on-premises Rubrik clusters and cloud workloads
- Immutable backups with logical air gap, encryption and role-based access controls
- SQL Server protection with availability group awareness, log shipping and recoverable ranges for point-in-time restores
- Oracle database protection, and managed volumes as backup targets for database-native tools
- Ransomware monitoring, data threat analytics and threat hunting in higher editions
- Orchestrated cyber recovery and recovery simulation
- Identity recovery for Active Directory, Entra ID and Okta
Integrations and ecosystem
Pros and cons
Pros
- Security-led design: immutability, air gap and threat analytics in the same platform
- Single SaaS console over on-premises clusters and cloud workloads
- Documented SQL Server point-in-time recovery and availability group support
- Identity recovery for Active Directory, Entra ID and Okta alongside data backups
Cons
- Detailed product documentation requires a customer login
- No public price list; apart from one AWS Marketplace package, editions and meters need a quote
- Recovery features for Db2, MongoDB, SAP HANA and other engines are not publicly documented in detail; confirm them with Rubrik
Pricing
Rubrik sells Rubrik Security Cloud (RSC) as subscriptions in four editions; its fiscal 2026 10-K names Foundation, Business (adds ransomware monitoring) and Enterprise (adds data risk monitoring and orchestrated cyber recovery). The 10-K ties spending to the volume of data protected and the number of workloads secured, Rubrik's own AWS Marketplace listing (seller Rubrik Inc.) shows one package price: a Rubrik Cloud Cluster contract at USD 50,000 for 12 months, including RCDM, archive, centralized management, premium support and 6 back-end TB, with longer terms discounted and no refunds. No general price list or per-workload meter was readable on official pages, so other pricing is by quote through Rubrik or its partners.

Who it is best for
Enterprises that want backup and ransomware recovery from one SaaS-managed platform, with SQL Server and Oracle among the protected workloads.
Typical use cases
- Immutable backups of SQL Server and Oracle as a ransomware recovery copy
- Point-in-time restore of a SQL Server database within its recoverable range
- Rehearsing cyber recovery with recovery simulation before an incident
- Protecting VMs and cloud workloads from one SaaS console
Who should look elsewhere
- Teams that need a published support matrix for PostgreSQL or MySQL before talking to sales; Commvault publishes a broader public list.
- Small teams on a fixed budget, where Veeam Community Edition or open source tools fit better.
Verdict
Rubrik Security Cloud is a security-first backup platform with a SaaS control plane, a good match when ransomware recovery is the main buying reason. For database teams the best documented strengths are SQL Server and Oracle, with Db2, MongoDB, SAP HANA and AWS databases also covered; check log-based and point-in-time recovery for every engine other than SQL Server in a proof of concept.
Frequently asked questions
Is Rubrik Security Cloud SaaS only?
The control plane is SaaS, but on-premises data is stored on Rubrik clusters built from Rubrik-branded appliances or commodity servers. Cloud workloads are protected in AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud.
Can Rubrik restore SQL Server to a point in time?
Yes. Rubrik tracks a recoverable range for protected SQL Server databases, and its SDK exposes recovery points within that range. It also handles availability groups and log shipping.
What editions does Rubrik Security Cloud have?
Rubrik's annual report says RSC is sold in four subscription editions and describes Foundation, Business (adds ransomware monitoring) and Enterprise (adds data risk monitoring and orchestrated cyber recovery). Prices are by quote.
