DBeaver Pricing Explained (2026)

DBeaver Community is free and open source. The paid desktop editions (Lite, Enterprise and Ultimate) are per-user subscriptions, and DBeaver Corp also sells a server-based Team Edition, CloudBeaver Enterprise and the dbvr command-line tool. This page sets out the list prices, what each edition adds and how the licences work.

Steps and facts checked 8 October 2026 against the vendor's official documentation. Versions covered: DBeaver Community 26.2.2; DBeaver Lite, Enterprise and Ultimate 26.2. Next review due January 2027. Menus, shortcuts and prices change between releases; check the vendor's documentation for your version.
Short answer
  • DBeaver Community Edition costs nothing and is licensed under the Apache License 2.0; it covers everyday work with relational databases.
  • The paid desktop editions are Lite, Enterprise and Ultimate, sold as named-user subscriptions (annual, and monthly for some editions). Perpetual licences were discontinued after version 23.3.
  • Enterprise adds development and DBA tools such as ERD edit mode, schema compare, mock data and the task scheduler; Ultimate adds native AWS, Google Cloud and Azure support and cloud storage.
  • Every paid edition has a 14-day free trial without a credit card, and students and teachers can request a free one-year academic licence for Enterprise.
  • Team Edition and CloudBeaver Enterprise are server products for groups, priced per user or per role with a minimum number of users.
How we know: Research-based: prices, editions and licence terms were checked against the DBeaver edition comparison, buy and product pages, the DBeaver licence types page and documentation, and dbeaver.io on 8 October 2026. CodeWithSQL has not bought or activated a DBeaver licence for this page. Prices are list prices before tax and can change; confirm them at checkout.

DBeaver pricing at a glance: the editions

When people search for DBeaver pricing, they are usually choosing between the free Community Edition and one of the commercial editions that DBeaver Corp groups under the name DBeaver PRO. The desktop line-up on the vendor's comparison page is Lite, Enterprise and Ultimate. Two further products, Team Edition and CloudBeaver Enterprise, run on a server and are licensed for groups of users.

All PRO editions use the same application as Community and reuse its workspace, so moving up does not mean rebuilding your connections. DBeaver's migration guide says commercial editions reuse the existing workspace, connections and configuration, and that licence activation is the only additional step.

What the free Community Edition does not include

DBeaver's own site describes Community as recommended for personal projects, with basic support for relational databases such as MySQL, SQL Server and PostgreSQL, a data editor, a SQL editor, task management and database maintenance tools. The features it reserves for PRO fall into a few groups:

  • More data sources. NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra and Redis, cloud services such as Google BigQuery and Redshift with native AWS, Google Cloud and Azure support (Ultimate), and connection through ODBC drivers.
  • Development tools. ERD edit mode (designing a schema in the diagram), mock data generation, schema and data compare, and the PostgreSQL SQL debugger are listed for Enterprise and Ultimate, not Lite.
  • Automation. The task scheduler and multi-component tasks are Enterprise and Ultimate features.
  • Security and support. Enterprise authentication methods (SSO, Kerberos and others), a master password with stronger credential encryption, and ongoing technical support.

For a side-by-side view of the two, see our DBeaver Community vs DBeaver PRO comparison.

How DBeaver licences work

DBeaver's licence types page states that all its licences are distributed per named user, not per concurrent user. The main points:

  • Individual yearly subscription. One person may install it on several workstations. It does not need internet access, so it works offline or behind a corporate firewall.
  • Individual monthly subscription. Renews monthly and needs internet access on the machine for the first activation and each renewal. It can be paused for 1 to 10 months.
  • Group yearly subscription. One key for a fixed number of named users, which can also be installed on a virtual machine or server with access limited to those users.
  • When a subscription ends, access to the product is blocked, not just updates. This is the main difference from the old perpetual model.
  • Perpetual licences have not been sold since version 23.3. Existing holders can keep using the versions they are entitled to and buy a one-year extension.

The free routes into the paid editions are the 14-day trial (requested once per product version, no credit card), the academic licence (Enterprise, free for students and teachers, one year, no technical support, not for commercial use) and the Early Access Program, which runs pre-release builds with limits such as three simultaneous connections, no CLI and no task scheduler.

Which DBeaver edition is worth paying for

In our view, most developers and students who work with PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server or SQLite can stay on Community: connections, the SQL editor, read-only ER diagrams, CSV import and most export formats are all free. Pay when a specific gap matters to you:

  • Lite suits analysts who want the visual query builder, the AI assistant and Excel export without the development tools. It is designed for individual use only.
  • Enterprise is the edition to consider if you need NoSQL sources, schema compare, ERD edit mode, scheduled tasks or vendor support.
  • Ultimate only adds value if you work with cloud accounts directly: Cloud Explorer, native AWS, Google Cloud and Azure support and cloud storage browsing.
  • Team Edition is for organisations that want shared connections, central access control and a query history across users, and are prepared to deploy and run a server.

Who should not pay: if you need only one engine and want a first-party tool, the free vendor clients (pgAdmin, SSMS, MySQL Workbench) may serve you as well; see our DBeaver review and comparisons such as DBeaver vs pgAdmin. If you are weighing DBeaver Enterprise against a paid IDE, compare it with DataGrip.

Pricing

Prices from the provider's official pricing pages, checked 8 October 2026, region List prices on the vendor website, in USD, excluding tax. List prices only; discounts, commitments and your actual usage change the bill.

Prices below come from the DBeaver edition comparison, buy and product pages. The desktop editions are priced per named user. Lite and Enterprise are offered monthly as well as annually. For Ultimate, the vendor's pages disagree: the Ultimate product page lists a monthly subscription at 51 USD, while the edition comparison page lists "No monthly subscription" for Ultimate and the licence documentation shows monthly subscriptions only for Lite and Enterprise. Check the checkout page before relying on a monthly Ultimate plan.

Team Edition is an annual subscription built from roles, with a minimum of three users, one of whom must be an administrator; desktop clients need no separate licence. CloudBeaver Enterprise is a server licence with a minimum of five users; the buy page shows 1,025 USD a year without stating whether that figure is per user or for the five-user minimum, so ask DBeaver for a quote. The dbvr command-line tool is licensed per machine. Group, volume and custom pricing is available on request.
