Secoda suits small and mid-sized data teams that want a catalog, lineage and AI search across a cloud warehouse, dbt and BI stack without a heavy governance programme. Unlimited viewers help adoption, but prices are by quote and the Atlassian acquisition means the roadmap and hosting will change, so ask for the migration plan.
Overview
Secoda combines a data catalog, end-to-end lineage, documentation and a glossary with AI agents: a cataloging agent organises assets into a searchable glossary, and an analysis agent answers business questions from the data. Governance features include policies, role-based access control, access request management and a data quality score. Secoda lists integrations with Snowflake, BigQuery, dbt, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Databricks, Tableau, Looker, Power BI and Slack.
Atlassian acquired Secoda at the end of 2025. Secoda says existing customers keep the same experience during the transition, that parts of its infrastructure will move to Atlassian's cloud platform, and that technical plans and timelines will be published in advance. Atlassian has said it will feed Secoda's capabilities into Rovo and its Analytics product.

Core covers table and column lineage, the catalog, automations, API access and SAML; Premium adds policies, PII scanning, a data quality score, guest accounts, single-tenant deployment and VPC peering; Enterprise adds custom roles, self-hosting, access request management, SIEM logging and unlimited integrations. No free tier is listed on the pricing page.

Who it is best for
Small and mid-sized data teams on a cloud warehouse, dbt and BI stack that want a catalog with lineage and AI search, with many read-only users.
Typical use cases
- Documenting warehouse tables and dbt models in one searchable catalog
- Checking downstream impact through column-level lineage before schema changes
- Answering business questions with AI on top of governed metadata
- Scanning for PII and managing access requests
Who should look elsewhere
- Large regulated enterprises that need formal stewardship workflows and policy management at scale: see Collibra.
- Buyers who need long-term roadmap certainty before Atlassian publishes its integration plans.
Verdict
Secoda gives smaller data teams a modern catalog with lineage, AI search and unlimited viewers, with self-hosting available at the top tier. Its future now sits inside Atlassian, which may suit Atlassian customers but adds roadmap uncertainty for others, so get the transition plan and pricing in writing.
