Do not plan a purchase around SQL Data Privacy Suite: Redgate no longer offers it under that name. If you need what it did (classify, mask and provision safe SQL Server copies), evaluate Redgate Test Data Manager, which also covers PostgreSQL, MySQL and Oracle, or the still-listed Data Masker, SQL Data Catalog and SQL Provision products.
Overview
Redgate introduced SQL Data Privacy Suite around 2018 as a way to manage personal data across a SQL Server estate for regulations such as GDPR. It brought together Redgate's tools for discovering and classifying sensitive columns (the classification work that became SQL Data Catalog), masking them (Data Masker) and provisioning masked copies to development and test (SQL Clone, sold with Data Masker as SQL Provision). SQL Data Catalog can generate mapping files that Data Masker imports, and SQL Clone then distributes the masked image as lightweight clones.
Redgate no longer has a product page for the suite. Its current offering for this job is Redgate Test Data Manager, launched on 16 November 2023, which Redgate says performs classification, masking, subsetting and cloning for SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL (including MariaDB) and Oracle, with a GUI and a CLI for CI/CD pipelines. Data Masker (SQL Server and Oracle), SQL Data Catalog (SQL Server) and SQL Provision remain listed with trials.
Key features
- Historical: discovery and classification of sensitive columns across a SQL Server estate
- Historical: rules-based static masking with Data Masker before data reaches development and test
- Historical: provisioning masked copies as clones (SQL Clone, sold with Data Masker as SQL Provision)
- Current successor: Redgate Test Data Manager with classification, anonymization (masking) and subsetting
- Current successor: Test Data Manager GUI plus a CLI for CI/CD pipelines
- Current successor: support for SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB, and Oracle
Integrations and ecosystem
Pros and cons
Pros
- Its successor, Test Data Manager, extends the approach beyond SQL Server
- Classification output can drive masking directly (SQL Data Catalog mapping files for Data Masker)
- Familiar Redgate tooling for SQL Server teams
Cons
- Not sold under this name; do not budget for it as a product
- The original suite covered SQL Server only
- Successor products have no public list prices
- Test Data Manager subsetting requires foreign key relationships, per its documentation
Pricing
The suite is no longer offered: its Redgate product URL returns 404 and Redgate lists no price for it. Its successor products are commercial and sold separately: Redgate Test Data Manager requires a licence (a free trial is offered at sign-in), and Data Masker, SQL Data Catalog and SQL Provision offer trials and contact sales, with no list prices in the page text.
Pricing checked on the vendor's official page on 7 November 2026. Prices change; confirm before buying.
Who it is best for
Readers researching the old Redgate bundle, and SQL Server teams deciding which current Redgate test data product replaces it.
Typical use cases
- Historical: classify personal data across SQL Server databases for GDPR
- Historical: deliver masked SQL Server clones to developers
- Today: mask and subset SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL or Oracle copies with Test Data Manager
Who should look elsewhere
- Anyone looking for a product to buy today under this name: evaluate Redgate Test Data Manager or see Redgate alternatives.
Verdict
SQL Data Privacy Suite is a historical Redgate bundle, not a current purchasing option. Its job of classifying, masking and provisioning safe database copies now sits mainly with Redgate Test Data Manager, which adds PostgreSQL, MySQL and Oracle. SQL Server shops already using Data Masker or SQL Clone can still buy those tools separately.
